Continuing forth with its overpowering draw ability, "The Avengers" is once again perched atop the box office to begin the Mother's Day holiday weekend on May 11-13, 2012
The Joss Whedon directed superhero blockbuster boasting an all-star cast including Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth nabbed another $29 million on Friday which sets the projected second weekend total at a cool $100 million.
Settling for runner-up status on its opening weekend of release is the Tim Burton creation "Dark Shadows," with the Johnny Depp helmed fantasy/comedy caper earning $10.5 million on its first day in theaters with an estimated debut weekend revenue set at $28 million.
Rounding out the top five at the box office in estimated totals are the Steve Harvey book-based comedy "Think Like a Man" ($6.5 million), followed by the Jennifer Lawrence starring blockbuster "The Hunger Games" ($4.3 million) and the Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling fronted drama "The Lucky One" ($4.1 million).
