Making sure the film sees a domestic debut, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has nabbed the North American distribution rights to "Bel Ami."
Starring Robert Pattinson, Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci, the movie had been shopped around by Protagonist Pictures before they and Sony reached the reported deal.
Based on Guy de Maupassant's novel, the big screen version "chronicle's a young man's rise to power in Paris via his manipulation of the city's most influential and wealthy women."
Helmed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod, Pattinson and his castmates will likely see the picture's domestic release sometime in 2012.
